I got really into the furniture design during the Gumbaldia arc.

I like when contemporary objects can appear in the show – reminders that real world catastrophe lies beneath Ooo. I hoped to honour the sadness of it.

I really enjoy drawing Golb – trying to get a nice pose and sense of scale, while maintaining the semi-naive style of the show.

The gas station from ‘BONNIBEL BUBBLEGUM’, ep 4 season 10

Uncivilized Elk made this video discussing environmental storytelling using the gas station backgrounds I designed in the episode Bonnibel Bubblegum as an example.
I found it really interesting as the designer to get an audience perspective on my work. It’s rare to get such as insight into how one’s background design choices are read or experienced by the audience – and for the small details whether they are even visible – so I really appreciate this analysis of my work, and heartened that my intent of imbuing the space with some specific history and particular emotional tone worked.
